Muan International Airport, South Korea – A devastating Jeju Air flight accident at Muan International Airport has claimed the lives of 176 passengers, marking one of the deadliest air accidents in South Korea’s history. In the moments leading up to the crash, a passenger sent a chilling final message to a family member via KakaoTalk, an instant messaging platform. The message read, “A bird struck the wing, and we can’t land.” Moments later, the passenger asked, “Should I make a will?” This haunting message has since gone viral, capturing the attention and sympathy of people worldwide.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, carrying 181 passengers and crew members, belly-landed and erupted in flames upon impact. Emergency response teams, including 32 fire engines, multiple helicopters, and approximately 1,560 personnel, were deployed to the scene. Despite their efforts, only two crew members were rescued from the tail section of the burning plane.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the crash, with initial reports suggesting that bird strikes and weather conditions may have played a role. The transport ministry has retrieved the flight data and cockpit voice recorders for further analysis.

The incident has prompted an outpouring of condolences from around the world, with Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressing deep sorrow and offering immediate assistance. Jeju Air’s president, Kim E-bae, has publicly apologized and accepted responsibility while awaiting the investigation results.

As recovery efforts continue, the crash site remains steeped in the smell of aviation fuel and blood, with workers in protective suits and masks scouring the area for any remaining survivors. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of aviation safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
